John L. Bach

Born: May 1, 1929; in Amboy, IL

Died: August 7, 2014; in Elgin

Deacon John L. Bach, age 85, of Fox River Grove formerly of Carpentersville, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at the Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. John was born on May 1, 1929, in Amboy, Illinois, and was the son of the late Jacob & Esther (nee Wagner) Bach. On April 23, 1955, he married Beverly J. Near. John was a resident of Fox River Grove for the past 18 years and a former 33 year resident of Carpentersville. All of John's professional career was spent in Communications. For over 30 years he worked for Aeronautical Radio. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean War. John was ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Rockford Diocese on March 3, 1979. He was a very active and faithful member of the St. Monica Church in Carpentersville. He served his church not only as a Deacon but was a member of the Holy Name Society and the St. Vincent DePaul Society and was active in Bingo for 40 years having served as a caller for 35 years. John was also a longtime dedicated volunteer at the FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville. He did a majority of the shopping and purchasing for FISH as well as serving as bookkeeper.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Beverly J.; their children, Mary (Richard) Murren, Barbara (Stephen) Krasemann, Kenneth (Elida) Bach and John (Margie) Bach. John is also survived by his 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Josephine Wilson; many nieces and nephews and countless good and faithful friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

Family and friends will gather for a funeral mass on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Monica Church, Carpentersville. Burial with Military honors will follow in the Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery, Cary. Visitation will be held on Sunday from Noon to 5:00 P.M. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and again on Monday morning at St. Monica Church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass.
