Edward Indermitte Obituary

MARENGO – Edward George Indermitte, 68, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 22, 1941, in Narva, Estonia, to Marga Indermitte Durkers. On Nov. 29, 1969, he married Constance Smith in Highland Park.

He came to the United States in 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War.

He was employed by Champion Transportation Co. in Northlake for the past 22 years.

He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, quick wit, generous nature, big heart, and his ability to light up a room. He was known for his expertise in horsemanship and his skill with a cuestick in making a three rail ball eight-ball.

Survivors include his wife, Constance; a daughter, Cathy Indermitte Ritzel; his sons, Scott and Tim Indermitte; his dear friends, Kathy Branch, Darrell Loudenbeck and Lisa Elder; an aunt, Carla Wastalu; and his cousins, Vivianna Indermitte Sayers of Australia, Eva Stobbe, Dr. Laura Kalshoven, Dr. Marge Wastalu-Edwards, Dr. Stephanie Swords and Amy Witz.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marga Indermitte Durkers; a grandmother, Rita Wastalu; an uncle, Dr. Aleksander Wastalu; and his cousin, Nils Indermitte.

A memorial service for the celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Marengo United Methodist Church, 119 E. Washington St., Marengo. The Rev. Keck Mowry will officiate.

Memorial bequests may be directed to the wishes of the family.

Indermitte Family,

Please accept my deepest condolences on your loss. Ed frequently came in to 3D Exhibits as a driver for Champion. He was always a pleasure to work with. I will miss seeing him.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I will remember Ed as a genuinely kind man who was always happy to see me. The feeling was mutual. Even though our paths didn't cross very often, I felt good for a long time when I did see him.
