Ruth Paula Hintt

Obituary Condolences

ELGIN – Ruth Paula Hintt, 89, of Elgin, passed away Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Rosewood Care Center in Elgin after a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Tinley Park, to Alfred and Alma (Raabe) Christian. She married Morris C. Hintt on June 25, 1950, in Algonquin.

She was a graduate of Sherman Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 and had worked at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, for more than 30 years before her retirement. She was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in England and Germany.

She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Algonquin and had served at treasurer for the Sherman Hospital Alumnae Association.

Survivors include her two daughters, Christine Donegan and Carol Hintt, both of Elgin; her sister, Norma Petersen of Carol Stream; her brother, Walter (Ruth) Christian of Rochester, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris C. Hintt, who passed away May 23, 2007; and five brothers, Gerhard, Arnold, Paul, Martin and Alfred.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. The visitation will continue from noon until the service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Algonquin. The Rev. William Stroup will officiate. Burial will follow in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin.

Memorials may be made in her name to St. John's Lutheran Church or School, Algonquin, or the Sherman Hospital Alumnae Association, Elgin.
