Robert Burtness Obituary

ELKHORN, Wis. – Robert E. Burtness, 75, of Evergreen Drive in Elkhorn, died unexpectedly at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center after an apparent heart attack.
Robert was born June 5, 1936, the son of the late Rev. Ernest and Clara (Wong) Burtness. Robert was first united in marriage to Judith Ruhff on Sept. 1, 1956, and then Diane Strahl on Sept. 24, 1982, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan, Wis.
Robert worked for more than 39 years with Sta-Rite Pumps of Delavan, retiring in 1992.
He was an avid golfer, golfing in the Tuesday Night Men's League at Evergreen Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diane; six children, Steven (Sonja) Burtness of Hampshire, Bonnie (Bob) Cooper of Lake Geneva, Wis., Scott Horch of Elkhorn, Renee (Chet) Kuryliw of Elburn, Randy Horch and Brett (Rhonda) Behrens, both of Lake Geneva; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Judith; one brother, Donald Howe; and one sister, Beverly Carter.
The visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 1, until the memorial service at 7 p.m. at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, with the Rev. Robert Rickman officiating. Burial will be in Hartwell Cemetery Town of LaFayette, Wis.
