CARY – F. Robert Whitworth, 76, of Cary, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Robertsville, Mo. Robert was executive vice president of Encyclopedia Britannica, owned his business, spent his retirement volunteering at the Crystal
Lake Food Pantry and was a member of Meadowridge Church in Zion.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (Ringkamp), of 55 years. He has one sister, Faith (Melvin) Flora of St. Clair, Mo.; five children, Joan (Lance) Kelley of Cary, Rob (Julie) of Beach Park, Jim (Beth) of Cary, Kris (Bobby) Sheehan of Lake in the Hills and Shawn (Denise) of Appleton, Wis.; 14 grandchildren, Erin, David, Robert, Alyssa, Robert, Alex, Kellie, Becca, Shawn, Jamie, Luke, Morgan, Isaiah and Avery; and one great-grandchild, Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert and Geraldine.
The celebration service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Meadowridge Church, 4500 Highway 173, Zion. Officiating will be his sons, the Revs. Robert and Shawn Whitworth.
