ARLINGTON HEIGHTS – Richard A. Koopman was born on Oct. 13, 1939, in Chicago to Arnold and June (nee Foley) Koopman. He passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013, in Arlington Heights after a valiant fight with cancer.|
He was a magnetic, charismatic, fun loving, generous man who was a great friend to many and loved by all. Throughout his battle with cancer he was courageous, strong, a fighter, humbled, tender, sweet and gracious. He was cherished and loved beyond words and will be forever missed. He left a treasured legacy – the presence of love, faith, family and great friends.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Judith (nee Mangold); his children, Richard (Diane) Koopman II, Amy (Michael) Enxing, Suzanne (Rick) Sullivan and Melissa (Tom) Dabrowski; his grandchildren, Drew and Dan Koopman, Max and Lexi Enxing, Bracken, Camden and Molly Sullivan, and Tiffany, Jason and Nolan Dabrowski; his great-grandson, Dalton Richard Koopman; his brothers, Bill (Chris) Koopman, Bob (Judi) Koopman and Scott (Tammy) Koopman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the memorial service at 5 p.m. Friday, June 14, at First United Methodist Church, 1903 E. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights.
