Wendel Dschida Obituary

Wendel Dschida Jr. Born: Oct. 21, 1928; in Serbia Died: April 16, 2014; in Richmond Wendel Dschida Jr. age 85, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday April 16, 2014, at his home. Mr. Dschida was born in Gakowa, Serbia on October 21, 1928, the son of Wendel and Theresia (Stein) Dschida. On October 15, 1952, he married Anna Lina in Europe. Mr. Dschida emigrated from Germany in 1957, and became a United States citizen in 1963. He worked in Chicago from 1957 to 1968 as a maintenance engineer and electrician. After moving from Chicago, he founded Astro Craft (machine shop) with Martin and Earl Fry in 1968. He was the office manager of Astro Craft until his retirement in 1989. Wendel was an active member of the McHenry County Beekeepers. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed deer hunting trips in Wisconsin, caribou hunting in Quebec and hunting trips in Wyoming and Montana. He was a loyal owner of his Visla's (Hungarian hunting dogs) that were his companions when Pheasant hunting. He would take fishing vacations with his grandchildren in Canada. His extensive travels took him to Germany, Austria, Hungary, Rome, Italy, and Hawaii. He also enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean, Panama, and Alaska. Mr. Dschida spent many winter seasons in sunny Florida. During the last six seasons he enjoyed the company of his dear friend Elisabeth. He was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg, and a member of the American Aid Society. Mr. Dschida is survived by his children, Edward and Otto (Linda) Dschida, both of Johnsburg. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Dorothy (Joe Agati) Dschida, Theresia Dschida, Elisa (Jon) Doyle, and Michael and Robert Dschida. He also leaves great-granddaughters, identical twins, Tahlia and Evienne Doyle. His brother, Martin (Elisabeth) Dschida of Johnsburg also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Anna. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home and Crematory, 591 Ridgeview Dr., McHenry. The Funeral Mass will be said on Friday, April 25, at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg, IL. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Sorry to hear of Wendall's passing. I can remember him from when I took care of his mom Theresia many years ago when she had Centegra home health care.Please know that the Dschida family is in my prayers and thoughts at this sad time.

Dear Dschida Family,

Uncle Wendall always had a good joke to tell.
Uncle and I shared some beekeeing together and we had fun. ( Laughed alot but very serious adventure.) I will always remember what Uncle taught me and keep him close in my heart and prayer's.
