Erik K. Fredricksen Obituary
Erik K. Fredricksen

Born: February 16, 1961; in Woodstock, IL

Died: January 11, 2017; in McHenry, IL

Erik Karl Fredricksen, 55, of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, passed away far too soon on Wednesday, January 11, 2017.

He was born on February 16, 1961 to Karl Jakob and Agnes Belle (Miller) Fredricksen and grew up in Wonder Lake. His gypsy nature moved him from different homes in Woodstock, Harvard, Lawrence, McHenry, Lake Geneva, Hebron and Elkhorn - and was probably the reason he worked in a variety of trades, from construction to foundries, from installations to disaster restoration. He was a true "McGyver" who seemed to know a little about everything. This not only made him an extraordinary conversationalist, but a guy who loved figuring out a way to make things work. He is affectionately remembered for his clever wit and animated talent of "Fredricksen storytelling".

Erik was as sentimental as he was generous, dearly loving his family, his friends, and traveling, and was happiest when combining all three. He was proud of his Norwegian ancestry and was excited to visit his paternal relatives in Norway with his siblings. Famous for his love of driving and road trips, it was fondly joked that he knew every road in the area - and he always had a partner in crime with him. His adventurous spirit took him from Florida to California, along with memorable vacations with family & friends to Holland, Belgium, Germany and Jamaica. He loved life and living it fully: boating, jet-skiing, skydiving, pyrotechnics, target shooting, gadgets and technology, his pets, cooking with friends, spending time with his family (the bigger and louder the gathering, the better :), and classic black-and-white movies.

He is survived by his older sister, Kari Koch (Scott); younger brothers, Rod (Mary), and Mark (Bobbie); nieces and nephews, Grant, Bridget (Mike) Haddad, Branden, Jake (Hannah), Garrett Landwehr and Samantha; and great-nephew, Sawyer Haddad. He is deeply missed by the children he loved and was so proud of, Joshua (35), of Elkhorn, and Christina Elizabeth (30), of Harvard, with Cathy (Irwin), of Chicago, and Savannah Jade, "B" (17), of Hebron, with Lisa Boden, of Hebron; and his grandchildren, Brandon Vail, Alex and Elyza.

Memorial service in celebration of Erik's life will be held at Wonder Lake Bible Church, 7511 Howe Rd, on Thursday, January 19th, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
