Kay M. Pawl
Born: July 11, 1942; in Michigan City, IN
Died: December 14, 2017; in Chicago, IL
Kay M. Pawl, 75, of Crystal Lake passed away December 14th 2017, at Mosaic of Lakeshore Care Facility in Chicago, IL while under the care of the Seasons Hospice Care staff, surrounded by her loving family.
Kay was born July 11th, 1942 in Michigan City, Indiana to Alvin and Sylvia (Portinga) Keefer. She was a 1960 graduate of Three Oaks High School in Three Oaks, MI where she was actively involved in band as a proud trombone player.
Kay graduated from the Evangelical Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago in 1963 where she then went to on to practice nursing at Children's Memorial Hospital in Lincoln Park, IL. After marrying Richard Pawl in Chicago in 1968, she took a break from nursing to be a homemaker and amazing mom until returning to the nursing profession for several more years at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, IL. Her loving and compassionate attitude made her such an outstanding nurse, which overflowed into her family, friendships, and the disadvantaged as she was always offering to help and be an advocate for others. She was also known for having a passion for cooking, gardening, and spending many hours on the tennis court with her husband and friends. Most of all, she was an amazing Busia (grandmother) to her 5 grandchildren.
Kay is survived by her three children, stepson, Larry (Robin) Pawl of Lakeside, CA; daughter, Amanda (Ralph) Schuetzle of Crystal Lake, IL; and son, Andrew Pawl of Fox River Grove, IL; five grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, Jackson Schuetzle, Taylor Pawl and Arei Bein; her brother, Kelvin (Maxine) Keefer of Grand Rapids, MI; and her cousin, Jim King from Three Oaks, MI.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Richard Pawl; her parents; and beloved sister, Kathleen Keefer.
A time for visiting and condolences for the family will be held 4:00 to 6:00pm and conclude with a Memorial Service at 6:00pm on Tuesday, January 2nd at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Rd., Cary, IL. 60013.
