SHIRLEY GOODSON "CATHEY" GRIFFITH/ HAMMOND, IN
Shirley Cathey Goodson, age 57, of Griffith, formerly of Hammond, went home to her Lord and Saviour on Monday April 15, 2013 after a courageous battle against a terminal illness. She is survived by her mother, Rev. Shirley Goodson; one daughter; Tracie (Carlos) Hernandez; one son, David (Marchea Boyd) Fox; four grandchildren; Sierra, Carlos, Ryan, and Malayzia; one sister, Lisa Goodson; three brothers: Randy (Sue) Goodson, Gary (Cheryl) Goodson, and Ricky (Joreen) Goodson; a nephew; numerous nieces; and great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by three precious angels: Jason, Crystal, and Kellie Fox; her father, Kenneth M. Goodson in 1997; and brother, Kenneth D. Goodson in 2007. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. from the Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue (Hessville), Hammond with Pastor Wanda Suttles officiating. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday April 19, 2013 at Bocken funeral Home from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Cathey was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area. She was employed at Hospice of the Calumet Area for the past five years. Cathey took great pride in her profession as a compassionate Hospice Palliative Certified Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, had a crazy sense of humor, and always had to be color coordinated. She was devoted to her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Cathey was a loving mother, "Nana", daughter, sister, and dear friend to many. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Cathey's memory may be made to the family. There are so many memories that I cherish of u...that I feel selfish because I'll never have any more to look for. So many times u lifted me up when nobody else could.I LOVE U SO MUCH.

Our deepest condolences goes out to the family in this tough time of sorrow. She is out of pain and in the open arms of our great Lord in the Heavens above. She has touched many souls and will not be forgotten. RIP Shirley.

Gone to soon ! But will never be forgotten . Cathey was a women who showed care and compassion in her job as a home healthcare nurse. Thank you for caring for my father-in-law. He truly thought you was the greatest! And he was Right. You was a great sis-in-law and I will always remember the fun goofy times we had together.And how u loved my homemade fudge. LOL ! R.I.P. Cathey Love Ya.
