LJUBO TORBICA SCHERERVILLE, IN Ljubo Torbica, age 83, of Schererville, IN passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015. He was born September 1, 1931 in Srb, Lika. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dara; children: Nedeljka (Ljubisha) Kukric, Savka (Dragan) Kucanin, Sonja (Zoran) Jevtic; surrogate father, Momcilo Vuchenich; grandchildren: Andrj, David, Nemenja, Ana, Sandra, Bogdan and Dane; brother, Vojo Torbica; sister, Nena Zelich; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins Kumovi, Pritelji in America and Starom Kraju. He is preceded in death by his parents: Milos and Sofia; sister, Nedeljka Vuchenich; and brother, Svetozar. Ljubo immigrated to the United States with his family on July 25, 1971 to join his brothers and sister. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. directly at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Schererville with V. Rev. Dobrovoje Milunovic officiating. At rest, Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. Friends are invited to visit with Ljubo's family on Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home , 7607 W. Lincoln Hwy, Schererville (Rt. 30 east of Cline Ave.) Pomen prayer service Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. Ljubo was a member of the St,. George Church and a retired employee of the Inland Steel Company.

Wackowski, Edward L. - Merrillville  
EDWARD L. WACKOWSKI MERRILLVILLE, IN Edward L. Wackowski, age 90, of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Edward is survived by his wife of 44 years: Wilda; four children: Wayne (Viv) Wackowski, Larry (Laura) Wackowski, Sheri (Brian) Hastings, and Deb (Ron) Glos; eight grandchildren: Brandon Wackowski, Elyse (Mike) Brown, Jon Spurlock, Bryan (Heidi) Radakovich, Amy (Rick) Adams, and Amanda, Courtney and Hannah Glos; three great grandchildren: Layla Adams, Paige Radakovich, and Hayden Manoski. He was preceded in death by his son: Bruce Wackowski; and parents: Max and Viola Wackowski. Edward was an Air Force Veteran serving in WWII in the 410th Bomb Group. He was a member of the Air Force Museum W.P.A.F.B. and a retired Assistant Chief with 35 years of service with the Gary Fire Department. Edward was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games on the computer. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of his life. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Geisen Funeral & Cremation Services , 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, IN 46410 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maria Luisa Aburto; five children: Antonio Aburto- Aparicio, Daisy (Ricardo) Aburto-Martinez, Carlos (Kathy) Aburto, Alicia (Javier) Aburto-Ruiz and Salli Aburto- Ortega; grandchildren: Erika (Kiel) Sopko, Jeanette (Adam) Machara, Crystal (Brandon) Reichert and Crystina (Michael) Ridenour, Carlos (Danielle) Aburto, William (Chrissy) Aburto, Marina (Adam) Mikolajczyk and Myles Urbano Aburto, Aliciavidal (Jose) Rios, Domingo Ruiz and Javieradrian Ruiz, Marco, Octavio and Rodolfo Ortega; great grandchildren: Katlin, Karolina, Colin, James, Sofiavidal and Brent; numerous loving brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Boren, Mary Rachel  
MARY RACHEL BOREN LEBANON, MO Mary Rachel Boren, age 79, formerly of Cedar Lake, IN passed away peacefully on January 20, 2015 in Lebanon, MO surrounded by her family. Rachel was born April 15, 1935 in Elkmont, AL to the late William and Avis (Higdon) Bryant. Also preceding her in death is her husband for over 50 years, Louis Boren, who passed away in 2006; her sisters: Marie Rooks, Dorothy Jones; and brothers: Calvin Bryant, and William Jack Bryant Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ron (Sarah) Boren, Sherry (Art) Velasquez, Vicky (Charlie) Bloomer, Michael (Theresa) Boren; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great great grandchild, and a sister Ruth Parker. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. JOHN H. BREWER GRIFFITH, IN John H. Brewer, age 82, of Griffith, IN passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015. John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris (nee McDonald); son, Joel Brewer of Florida; daughter Donna (Ken) Ippolito of St. John; four grandchildren: Amanda (Tonny) Tzanetakos of Dyer, Ariele Morris of Highland, Michael Ippolito of St. John, and Jacob Ippolito of St. John; two great grandchildren: Alexa and Jack; sister, Frieda Vaughn of TN. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Henderson. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with visitation continuing after the service until 4:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home , 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. John was minister of the Church of Christ in Griffith on Colfax Street. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. He was especially concerned for the downtrodden of this world. MICHAEL ESTES (KREAMY) Michael has been called home to Heaven at the age of 64. He is survived by his best buddy "TO TO"; fiance' Linda Horsley; daughter Kimberly Jo Biancardi (Fred); grandchildren: Lindsay and Jeremy Biancardi and McKensie Estes; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by mother Lillian; son Michael and daughter Erica Ann Estes; two sisters: Shirley Hoover and Debra Kincade; and long time cherished friend, Shirley Green (Tuff). He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Hungarian Church, 148th & Alexander, East Chicago on January 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Following the memorial service, friends and family will meet from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Langel's Pizzeria in Highland, IN. THOMAS W. FISHER HOBART, IN Thomas W. Fisher age 66 of Hobart, passed away on Tuesday January 20, 2015. Thomas retired from Farm Bureau Insurance after 30 years as an Agent/Manager, he was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, and a former member of the Central Baptist Church, where he served as a children's Sunday school teacher, a trustee, a Deacon, and he was in the choir. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Sharon Fisher; two sons: Nathan (Rendy) Fisher, and Matthew (Sophia) Fisher; one brother John (Susan) Fisher; one sister Mary (Bob) Ramirez eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. from the Emmauel Baptist Church 760 McCool Road Valparaiso, IN with Rev. John Allen officiating, interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the KRAFT FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY 370 N. County Line Road, Hobart. JAMES CHARLES MYERS HAMMOND, IN October 13, 1961 January 20, 2015 James ("Jimmy") Charles Myers, Hammond, IN, 53 years old passed away on January 20, 2015 after a valiant fight with End Stage Renal Failure. He was preceded in death by loving father, James John Myers and beloved stepson, Kevin J. Hardy, Jr. He is survived by loving wife of 24 years, Kathleen Myers; sons: Adam Joseph Hardy (Nichole Cannon) of Knox, IN; Jason Matthew Myers, Timothy James Myers and his beloved therapy dog: Rusty, all of Hammond, IN and adorable grandson: Cameron Alexander Hardy (Knox, IN). He is also survived by mother: Judy Myers (Waxhaw, NC); sisters: Joyce (Paul) Lewis (Waxhaw, NC); Janet (Gregory) Tano (Leroy, IN); and his niece and nephews: Gregory and Ginell Tano and Andy, Michael and Jimmy Lewis; and many other friends, co-workers, medical staff and family members that loved him dearly. Jimmy was Gavit High School Class of 1979 and an Honors Graduate (3.85 out of 4.0) of Lincoln Technical Institute in December, 1990. His major was Automotive/Diesel Technology and he specialized in automotive engines post graduation. Jimmy had a stellar career with the University of Chicago Hospitals, Materials Management and Receiving Departments from 1994 until 2009 when he retired due to his illness. He is also a retired member of SEIU, Local 73, Chicago, IL. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and beloved friend. His smile lit up a room wherever he went and he had and gave the gift of laughter and love to all who knew him. His prime hobby was rebuilding cars and could fix anything you put in front of him from classics to computerized newer cars; to computers and some construction. Jimmy was the only boy in his family so his friends were all like brothers to him. He was also a very loving and devoted father to all his boys and the best friend anyone could ask for. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation and remembrance of the fun and laughter they shared with Jimmy at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens , 8178 Cline Ave.Schererville, IN on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. and funeral services on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 12:00 noon with burial immediately following. PAUL A. HINDS LANSING, IL Paul A. Hinds, age 85 of Lansing, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. He is survived by Mary (nee Henson), his wife of 62 years; three children: David (Margaret) Hinds, Paula (Bill) Yadron, and Stephen Hinds; four grandchildren: Kevin, Kate, Emily, and Daniel; one great granddaughter: Francesca; and two sisters: Joan (late Bruno) Konny and Carol (Charles) Norris. Mr. Hinds honorably served his country in both the U.S. Army and the Air Force. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lansing, the American Legion, employee /owner of Rogers Cartage Co., Safety Director of the Year for National Tank Truck Carriers and past Chairman for both National Tank Truck Carriers and the American Trucking Association, where he also served on the Technical Advisory Group. He loved sports and was an avid Bears, Bulls, and White Sox fan. There was a private memorial service for Paul.
