URBANO ABURTO "TERPSIE" HIGHLAND, IN Urbano "Terpsie" Aburto, age 86 of Highland, IN formerly of East Chicago, IN passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maria Luisa Aburto; five children: Antonio Aburto- Aparicio, Daisy (Ricardo) Aburto-Martinez, Carlos (Kathy) Aburto, Alicia (Javier) Aburto-Ruiz and Salli Aburto- Ortega; grandchildren: Erika (Kiel) Sopko, Jeanette (Adam) Machara, Crystal (Brandon) Reichert and Crystina (Michael) Ridenour, Carlos (Danielle) Aburto, William (Chrissy) Aburto, Marina (Adam) Mikolajczyk and Myles Urbano Aburto, Aliciavidal (Jose) Rios, Domingo Ruiz and Javieradrian Ruiz, Marco, Octavio and Rodolfo Ortega; great grandchildren: Katlin, Karolina, Colin, James, Sofiavidal and Brent; numerous loving brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 12:00noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Erlin Garcia officiating. Entombment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN to follow. Friends may meet with the family from 11:00a.m. til time of Mass at the Church on Tuesday. Urbano retired from Inland Steel Company after 35 years of service, proud member of Union Local #1010 and the Calumet Striders Runner's Club. DEBBIE A. ALEXANDER WHITING, IN Debbie A. (Skrocki) Alexander, age 58, of Whiting, IN, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, January 18, 2015, with her family and friends by her side, after a courageous battle against cancer. She is survived by her husband, Frank Alexander; her son Eddie Skrocki; two granddaughters: Alexis Benge and Emily Fink; father, Frank (late Nancy) Berg; 1 sister, Michele (Ralph) Baker; two brothers: Michael (Yolanda) Berg, and Bobby Berg; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Nikki Pucci; and her canine "babies" Bosco and BeBe. Preceded in death by her daughter Jackie Skrocki and mother Nancy Berg. Funeral Services Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at the Anthony & Dziadowicz Funeral Home , 4404 Cameron Ave., Hammond (2 blocks E. of Hohman, 1 block N. of Gostlin), 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Casimir Church with Rev. William O'Toole officiating. Cremation to follow. Visitation on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Wake Service Friday, 7:00 p.m. Debbie was a Whiting resident for the past 30 years. She was a former waitress at Phil Smidt in Whiting, John's Restaurant in Calumet City, and currently at Freddy's Steakhouse in Hammond. She will always be remembered for her infectious laugh and great sense of humor, which brought new meaning to your dining experience. When Debbie waited on you for the first time, you knew you made a new friend. She had a heart of gold, and would do anything for those she loved and who loved her. Her door was always open. Debbie is now together again with her daughter Jackie Skrocki, who she deeply missed. May they rest in peace.

MARGARET S. ARCEO PORTAGE, IN Margaret S. Arceo, age 75, of Portage, IN passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Regency Hospital in Portage, surrounded by her family and memories. She was born on February 8, 1939 in Gary, Indiana the daughter of Leonardo and Leonor (Nee Vasquez) Gomez. She married Guillermo Arceo on September 3, 1960 in Gary, Indiana. She was retired from U.S. Steel where she was a division secretary for the Coke Plant. Margaret was a very loving, giving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed spending her days with her family, playing her casino games and cross stitching. Margaret is survived by her loving family, husband of 54 yrs, Guillermo Arceo of Portage; son, Guillermo J. Arceo of Portage; two daughters: Sylvia Arceo of Portage and Olivia (Michael) Penix of Hanna, Indiana; three grandchildren who were the apples of her eye: Kenton Penix, Madeline Penix and Caitlyn Arceo; sister who she loved dearly, Yolanda (Jose Luis) Guerrero of Highland; many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Arroyo; and three sisters: Esther Klug, Delores Gonzalez and Erlinda Alcoser. A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret will be celebrated on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of Our Savior, 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage with Rev. Andrew Corona presiding. CHARLES DAVID BAUM HOBART, IN Charles David Baum, born January 7, 1966, died January 26, 2015. He is a much cherished son of Bernie and Katie Baum of Hobart, IN. He loved his brothers and sisters: Jim of Fairfield, CA, Steve (Kim) of Griffith, IN, Jerri of Lake Station, IN, Becky (Chris) Trezak of Hobart, IN. He loved his nieces: Kathryn, Alison and nephews: Brian (Michelle) Marquise, Gus and Eric; two great nephews: Little Brian and Braiden. His wonderful best friends Dan and Jill, Andy, Dave and Mark will miss his great sense of humor. Charlie was our computer techie who loved reading up on any new gadgets. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and most of all Mom and Dad. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Lois Baum Sr. and Kenneth and Victoria DeFrance. A funeral service for our beloved Charlie will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel , 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Pastor Shawn Cornet officiating. RUTH L. BECK KOUTS, IN Ruth L. Beck, age 84, of Kouts, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 in Valparaiso. She was born the daughter of Vess and Ethel Wolf on July 19, 1930 in Gary, IN. Ruth married Richard Cronch and had four children: Linda (Ken) Bastasich, Larry (Charlotte, to whom Ruth referred to as her favorite daughter-in-law) Cronch, Doug Cronch and Mike Cronch all of which survive. Also surviving are several grandchildren and her present husband John Beck. Ruth worked as a secretary for Eagle Aircraft for 20 years before she retired. Ruth always loved the song "I did it my way" and that is how she lived her life "Her Way". A memorial visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. on, Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Moeller Funeral Home , 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating.
