Clarence M. Basanda

CLARENCE M. BASANDA CALUMET REGION Clarence M. Basanda, a longtime resident of the Calumet Region, died May 12, 2013 in Edwardsville, IL of pneumonia. Mr. Basanda was born October 17, 1929 to the late Michael and Margaret (Rosko) Basanda. He grew up in the Hessville area of Hammond and was a graduate of Hammond High School and Indiana University, where he earned a B.S. in Business. Mr. Basanda served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Upon his return, he owned and operated Basanda Builders, building numerous garages for area homeowners. In later years, he farmed in Akron, IN. He also lived in Rochester, IN where he was a member of St. Joseph Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. In addition to his parents, Mr. Basanda was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond C. Basanda; and two sisters: Mary Ann Teska and Irma Basanda. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Cheryl (Michael) Woida of Edwardsville, IL, Fred (Meredith) Teska and David (Kellie) Teska, all of Trenton, MI, Beth (Frank) Patton of Queenstown, MD, Mark Basanda of Taylors, SC, and Susie Basanda of Tehachapi, CA; as well as many great nieces and nephews, and good friends. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John/St. Joseph's cemetery in Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The , P.O.
