Rev. Donald Walter Biester

REV. DONALD WALTER BIESTER CROWN POINT, IN Rev. Donald Walter Biester, age 77 of Crown Point, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013. He is survived by sister, Helen (Chuck) Sauerman of Crown Point; nephews: David (Debbie) Sauerman of IL and Dick (Laura) Sauerman of Crown Point; niece, Nancy (Greg) Forsythe of Crown Point; and great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents: Walter Biester and Neva (Norbert) Heidbreder. Donald graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in May of 1949 and he attended Crown Point High School for one year before transferring to Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne, IN, where he graduated in 1953. He entered Concordia College in Fort Wayne and received his Associate of Arts in 1955 and entered Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and received his Bachelor of Arts in 1957. Donald received his Masters in Theology in 1960 and was assigned to St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville, WI as Associate Pastor. In 1962, he received the call as Senior Pastor of St. Martin. In 1965, he received the call as Pastor of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tipton, IN. At Emanuel, he dedicated a new Church and fellowship hall. In 1978, Pastor Biester received a call to Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, IN, where he dedicated a new gym and Fellowship Hall. He retired in 2002 and moved back to Crown Point, where he lived at Wittenberg Lutheran Village. Pastor Biester served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for many years. Franciscan Dr., (south of St. Rd. 231 on St. Rd. 55), Crown Point on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Directly from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 250 S. Indiana Ave., Crown Point with Rev. David Easterday officiating. There will be 1/2 hour visitation prior to service. At rest, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, Missouri Synod Indiana District Missions Fund, or Wittenberg Lutheran Village.
