Helen A. LaBuda

HELEN A. LaBUDA CEDAR LAKE, IN Helen A. LaBuda, age 64, of Cedar Lake, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. She was born at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Chicago in 1948 to William C. and Evelyn Ellen (Savard) Soudriette. Helen spent her entire life in the Calumet Region. She graduated from Highland High School with honors in 1966 and earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in 1992. She worked for Sherwin Williams Company for 25 years at the Chicago Emulsion Plant where her last position was Plant Quality Manager. Her true passion was rescuing dachshunds and finding them warm and loving homes. She served as the Indiana Representative for Midwest Dachshund Rescue since 2006. Helen is survived by her children: Jennifer Lynn Davalos (Richard Davalos) of Cedar Lake and Christopher LaBuda (Sarah LaBuda) of Lowell; brother, Richard W. Soudriette (Cynthia Gilley) of Colorado Springs, CO; and two grandchildren: Kannon and Asher. She previously was married to Joseph A. LaBuda. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave., St. John, IN 46373. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
