James V. Oliver

James V. Oliver, age 89 of Munster, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012. He is survived by his three children: Dale (Sandy) Oliver, Nancy (Bruce) Dalzell, and Barb (Jim) Haley; six grandchildren: Melissa (Dave) Wleklinski, Brianne and Ross (Jacqui Nelson) Oliver, Carl (Diana Ivette) Dalzell, Beth and Marge Haley; three great grandchildren: Blake Oliver, Hannah and Paige Wleklinski; sister- in-law, Barbara Oliver; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Oliver was a graduate of The University of Arizona, a retired Major with the United States Air Force Reserve, a veteran of World War II and the Korean war where he served as a pilot and budget officer. He was a member and past president of the Reserve Officers Association. He retired in 1981 from Amoco Oil Whiting Refinery after 31 years of service where he was a payroll and accounting supervisor. Mr. Oliver was a past member of the Amoco Annuitants Club, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 22 years, and a member of American Legion Post 180. Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; one sister; and four brothers. Mr. Oliver has chosen to make a donation of his body to the State of Indiana Anatomical Education Program. As such the family will hold a celebration of Jim's life at a later date. Donations may be made in Mr. Oliver's name to the Indiana Anatomical Education Program or Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana.
