John E. Thrall

John E. Thrall, 75, of Munster, entered into the gates of Heaven on Sunday, April 27, 2014. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Martha Thrall, (nee Baize); two sons: James "Jim" (Jennifer Ballas) Thrall and Terry (Barbie Cook) Thrall; 11 grandchildren; two great granddaughters; two sisters: Jane (Wade) Knorr and Julia (Paul) Bramer; sister-in-law, Nancy Ball; beloved dog and constant companion, "Cotton"; several nieces, nephews; and a host of dear friends. Preceded in death his parents: Elmer and Grace Thrall; and granddaughter, Renae Thrall. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. directly at First Baptist Church Main Auditorium, 473 Sibley Street, Hammond with Pastor John Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park in Crown Point. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) for visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will also be a time of viewing at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m. John was born on July 28, 1938 in Hammond and was a 1956 graduate of Hammond Tech High School. While in high school, he lettered in singing and won several awards. John was a faithful member of First Baptist Church since 1960 and had blessed many with his rich tenor voice. He loved children and for over 50 years, was a devoted worker in the Primary Church Department. John loved the Lord and shared his faith with others whenever he could.
