JOSEPH M. MAGLISH GRIFFITH, IN Joseph M. Maglish, age 79, of Griffith, passed away April 3, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Ann C.; two daughters: Lisa M. (Kenneth) Galik of Crown Point and Barbara L. (Stephen) Ehrman of Indianapolis; my four shining stars, my grandchildren: Amanda and Stephen Galik, and Damian and Stefan Ehrman, daughter-in-law, Kristin Maglish of Crown Point; three sisters: Mary (Late Richard) Szafasz, Barbara A. Maglish, and Rose (Russell) McDougall; sister-in-law, Loretta Maglish; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: Mike and Mary Maglish; son, Joseph A. Maglish; two brothers: Mike (Dorothy) Maglish and John (Lura) Maglish; two sisters: Katherine Saban and Anne Shaban. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday April 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. Mary Catholic Church, Griffith with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Burial at Mount Mercy Cemetery, Gary. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM (with a 6:30 PM prayer service) at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd. (two blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, IN. Joseph was a teacher for the East Chicago Public School System for 36 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Joseph served two years in the U.S. Army. He graduated from East Chicago Washington High School and Indiana University. Joseph was inducted into the East Chicago Sports Hall of Fame for football and played college football for Indiana University. Please omit flowers.
