Kenneth W. Blakeman

Kenneth W. Blakeman, age 80, of Cedar Lake passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan (nee Schillo) Blakeman; daughter, Gail (Allen) Gold; granddaughter, Samantha Gold; brother, Forrest Blakeman; brother-in-law, Shorty (Lois) Schillo. Preceded in death by his brother, Russell and sister, Lavern. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Tlucek, O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Burdan Funeral Home 12901 Wicker Ave (corner of Rt 41 & 129th Ave) Cedar Lake. Kenny was born on January 20, 1932 to Vernon and Edith Blakeman. Kenny was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He was retired from Inland Steel with 38 years of service in the transportation department. He was a 20 year member of the Cedar Lake Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. Kenny will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Anthony Hospice will be appreciated.
