Richard Lee Oglesby

Richard Lee Oglesby, age 83, of Hobart, passed away on August 12, 2014. Dick was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School, Class of 1948. He was a veteran of the Korean War - U.S. Navy Seabees. He was awarded the National Defense Service. He was a retired pipefitter, Union Local No. 597 after 50 years of service. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Oglesby (nee Monacy); sisters, Nancy (Tony) Rose and Peggy Waller; nephew, Kenneth Oglesby; mother Eve Stang and step-father Charles Stang; mother-in-law Frances Monacy; Aunt and Uncle Joseph and Marge Milletto; brothers-in-law Robert Pavlik, Don Monacy, Larry Monacy and Joe Monacy. Survivors include his children: Bridget Seibal of Roselawn, Eileen Heminger of Avon, IN, Karen (Richard) Majewski of Portage, Elizabeth Oglesby of New York, Richard Oglesby, Jr. of Hobart; brothers: John (Donna) Oglesby of Valparaiso, Robert Stang of Lowell, Charles (Mary) Stang of Lowell; sister, Sue (John) Rubino of Lake Station; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Pavlik of Lake Station, Marilyn Monacy of Lake Station, Leta (Richard) Thomas of Carmel; brothers-in-law: Terry Monacy of Lake Station, Gary Monacy of Texas and Fred Monacy of Portage; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Special thank you to Bethanie, his favorite therapist and Rick Majewski, son-in-law, for all he did for Dick. Friends are invited to visit with Richard's family for a time of sharing on Saturday, August16thfrom 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart, IN. There will be a Veteran's Tribute honoring Richard for his service to his country directly at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home.
