Robert Charles "Bob Bob" Granack

ROBERT CHARLES GRANACK CHARLOTTE, NC

Robert "Bob Bob" Charles Granack, age 73, of Charlotte passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 14, 2013. Born in Hammond, IN, Robert was the son of the late Joseph Granack and Josephine Granack Horvat. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Joan Granack Uran; grandparents: Joe and Anna Granack, Charles and Josephine Savickis. Robert was a proud graduate of St. Mary's Elementary and Hammond High School, class of 1957. Mr. Granack honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, and on his return, graduated from St. Ambrose College, class of 1965. Robert also attended the MBA program at the University of Iowa. Due to his career in industrial sales, Robert and his family had a succession of moves: Le Claire and Dubuque, IA, Moline and Bolingbrook, IL, Bettendorf, IA, Stow, OH, and since 1989, Charlotte NC. He was selected as a School Board Member of St. Cyril & Methodist in Lemont, IL. He will be remembered as a person who loved his family, never missed a game and was always there at a moment's notice in time of need. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Joan Marfise Granack; loving father of Polly (Jason) Thomas of Sydney, Australia, Robert (Laura) Granack of Harrison City, PA, Kathy (John) Quinn of Charlotte, NC, and Joseph (Sara) Granack of Lake Forest, IL. Proud grandparent of Bella, Sydney, Campbell, Adele, Alex, and Caroline. Brother of John and Debbie Horvat. He was the nephew of Jimmy, Tommy and Andy Granack. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 12:00 noon at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church located at Old Reid Road, Charlotte, NC 28210. Inurnment will take place in the church columbarium with a reception to follow in the Msgr. Pharr Activity Center. In Lieu of flowers, Bob requested memorials to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church building fund in his name.
