Susan Mills-Groninger

SUSAN MILLS-GRONINGER WHITING, IN Susan Mills-Groninger of Whiting passed away September 6, 2013. Born in East Chicago in 1953, she graduated from Bishop Noll Institute and Purdue University, and attended PUC and Universitat Hamburg. Susan was employed at the School City of Whiting and City of Whiting. Quick to smile and long to anger, but you knew when she got there. Survived by husband, Tim; children: Caitlin, Fiona (Michael Poe), Eileen, Max, and Maggie; grandson, Randy; brothers: Dale (Mari) and Patrick Mills; as well as a Celtic knot of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sue was a committed community volunteer and activist, including being a founding editor of PUC's Skylark Magazine, founding member of Purdue Film Society, Whiting's 119th Street Artists, and Studio 659. She was a former board member of the Whiting Public Library, School City of Whiting, and the Whiting-Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce. Sue was a volunteer with the Whiting PTOs, Whiting Science Olympiad, Whiting United Methodist Church, Arts Alive!, and many others. A fierce and loyal friend to every good heart, and she found them everywhere. Visitation Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Whiting United Methodist Church, 1920 Clark St., Whiting from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m. Open bar to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Whiting High Science Olympiad, c/o Whiting High School, 1751 Oliver St., Whiting IN 46394.
