Sylvester Arredondo

Sylvester Arredondo, age 80, of Merrillville, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011. Survived by two daughters: Maryann (Ron) Schlesinger of Hobart and Christine (Paul) Bowman of Merrillville; four grandchildren: Joseph (Natalie) Granatelli, Stephen Granatelli, Hannah and McKenzie Bowman; four brothers and two sisters: Juanita Sanchez of East Chicago, Jesse (Eva) Arredondo of Granger, IN, Dr. Jose (Delores) Arredondo of Merrillville, Camila (Rolando) Trevino of Highland, Ramon (Trisha) Arredondo of Crown Point and Judge Lorenzo Arredondo of Crown Point; sisters-in-law: Janet (Donald) Mayersky of Valparaiso and Eugenia Arredondo of East Chicago; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife, Carole; parents: Miquel and Maria; brother, Miquel, and sisters: Socorro Fernandez and Marie Arredondo. Mr. Arredondo was a former member of Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church. He was a retired crane operator from Inland Steel with 44 years of service, a member of U.S.W.A. Local #1010, and was a Merrillville Precinct Committeeman. Sylvester was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the V.F.W. Post #1563. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) on Thursday, June 2, from 2:00-8:00 P.M with a VFW service at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. from the Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Rev. Joseph Vamos officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery.
