Rebecca "Becky" Colin Griffith / East Chicago Rebecca "Becky" Colin, age 89, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2004 at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence in Munster, Indiana. She was born February 11, 1915 in East Chicago, Indiana to Ana (Cuipei) and Simion Ursa. She was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School. Formerly a member of the New St. George Romanian Orthodox Church in East Chicago (now in Lansing, Illinois). Rebecca lived in Griffith for over 60 years and was an active member of the United Methodist Women for the First United Methodist Church in Griffith. She was also a member of the Upsilon Chapter of Pi Sigma Phi Sorority. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Augustine Colin, their two loving daughters, Olivia Lenore Colin (Leon Brown) of Alexandria, Virginia and Beverly Colin (Mat Orrego) of Bloomington, Indiana, her brother, Charles Ursa (Marie) of Branson, Missouri, two step grandchildren, Angela (Henry) Ruiz and Byron Brown, four step-great-grandchildren and several dozen nieces and nephews. Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Betty Guenther, Irene Ferguson, Helen Link, Mary Medina, Anna Ursa and Mary Ursa, a brother, John Ursa and step-granddaughter, Donna (Damond) Wicker. Becky was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She enjoyed bridge, sewing and reading. An excellent cook and homemaker, she was a second "Mom" to many. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 P.M. on Monday, September 27, 2004 at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south or Ridge Road), Highland, Indiana. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 711 W. 77th Ave., Schererville, Indiana.
