JAY M. MINIER, SR. FORMERLY OF MILLER, IN
Jay M. Minier, Sr. "Pa Jay", age 82, of Palm Harbor, FL, formerly of Miller, passed away at Bay Pines VA Hospital in Florida on Thursday, October 2, 2008. Jay was a veteran of the U.S. Navy-WWII and was in the Pacific Theater where he sustained combat wounds. He was the owner/operator of Jay Minier's Beauty Salon on 39th and Broadway in Glen Park. He was devoted to his family and country. Jay was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; and his sister, Mary Kay "Babe". He is survived by one daughter, Pam Hinz of Vale, CO; loving son, Jay (Joan) Minier, II.; and granddaughter, Catherine; also step-family Tifphani (Jody) and great granddaughter, Mikayla Valdes all of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by many relatives in Northern Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN with Rev. Thomas E. Mischler officiating. Interment in Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. www.burnsfuneral.com

To Jay's family,

I am sorry for your loss. Jay used to cut my hair, and also my mom's in his salon in Glen Park, way back in the 60's. I remember him as being a nice and very caring man...plus a great stylist!
