GARY LYNN BROWN LAKE FENTON, MI
Gary Lynn Brown, age 56, of Lake Fenton, died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center after a five-year battle with cancer. Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with Pastor Jim Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM-2:00 PM and 3:00-6:00 PM Sunday and 12:00 PM until time of service Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a college fund for his granddaughter, Alivia Peters. Gary was born October 2, 1955 in Ft. Bragg, NC, the son of Robert and Barbara (Sisk) Brown. He had resided in Fenton the last 30 years coming from Hobart, IN. Gary moved to Michigan to work at AC Spark Plug where he started in production and then went into skilled trades. He earned Bachelor in Engineering from University of Michigan and became a Senior Engineer with General Motors. Gary married Melinda Edwards in Hawaii on 2005. He loved coaching Lake Fenton Girls Softball for many years. He enjoyed water sports, dogs, children, fireworks, the Red Wings and "Da" Bears. Surviving are: wife, Melinda; daughters: Jessica and Erin Brown, Stacey (Mike) Peters and their daughter and Papa's girl, Alivia; mother, Barbara Ginter; brother, Steve (Deborah) Brown; two sisters: Janet (Brian) Snedecor and Nancy (Greg) Nicholls; his special pets: Gada and Wicket; his special friends; "Papa's Kids", Keilana and Athan Papatheodore; the King, Edwards and Nickert families; and many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Brown; and first wife, Brenda (King) Brown; and dog, Winnie. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Genesys Hospice, especially Denise Fortune and Dr. Whisiker-Lewis. Gary was a good neighbor...always there with a smile & a wave. I will never be able to see fireworks without thinking fondly of him...I greatly enjoyed his holiday firework displays. My heart goes out to his family...he sure fought a valliant fight!
