Nancy J. Norris

NANCY J. NORRIS HOBART, IN Nancy J. (nee Toering) Norris, age 73 of Hobart, passed away November 23, 2009. She graduated from Hobart High School and received her Bachelor and Masters degrees in Elementary Education from Indiana University Northwest. Nancy was extremely active in many Hobart civic organizations and was a Hobart School Board Trustee since 1995. She was a charter member of the Rusty Pipes and served as President and Chairman of the Board as well as being instrumental in the construction of the Revelli Bandshell. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Norris; parents: Edna and Francis Toering; grandson, Seth Thomas; and brother, Donald Toering. She is survived by three children: Jeff (Sylvia) Norris of Aurora, IL, Greg Norris and Susan Thomas both of Hobart; seven grandchildren: Zachariah Norris, Andrew Norris, Lee Samuel Norris, Ryane Norris (Josh Puckett), Kyle Norris, Ethan Thomas and Taylor Thomas; sister, Patricia (Terry) Shaw; brother, Francis (Marjorie) Toering; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart, IN.
