ANNE ROOT DYER, IN Anne Root, 69, of Dyer, formerly of Crete and Flossmoor, IL, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. Margaret Mercy Hospital, Hammond. Anne was born April 6, 1943 in Champaign, IL. A registered nurse and certified perioperative nurse, Anne's two passions in life were nursing and her love of animals. After retiring as an operating room nurse, she continued her career as a legal nurse consultant in various legal cases and as an adjunct faculty member at Prairie State College, Chicago Heights, IL. She received a bachelor's degree from George Williams College and an associate degree in nursing from Prairie State College. An avid admirer of Arabian horses, Anne owned, bred, and showed horses for many years. An animal advocate, she will be missed forever by her somewhat smaller four-legged companions, Koko and Libby. Anne was preceded in death by her parents: Linda and Clark Root; and brother, Lawrence C. Root. She is survived by a sister- in-law, Camille Root-Vignocchi (Nello Vignocchi) of Orland Park, IL; a niece, Heidi Gnadt (Karl) of Urbana, IL; a nephew, Lawrence "Chip" Root Jr. (Aleece) of Plainfield, IL; grandnephews: Roland and Isaac Gnadt; and grandnieces: Tahlia and Gabriella Root. Anne will be greatly missed by her family, her dear friends Mary and Susan, her Sheffield Ave. "family" - Linda, Tom and Tracy, and her Prairie State colleagues. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Olympia Fields United Methodist Church, 20301 Western Ave., Olympia Fields, IL.
