BALBINA "BOOTS" ANTON (NEE LASKOWSKI) HAMMOND, IN Balbina Boots Anton (nee Laskowski), age 94, a longtime resident of Hammond and formerly of East Chicago, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at Saint James Hospice House in Chicago Heights, IL. She is survived by daughter, Diane Anton of Hammond; sister, Susan Newlin of Park Forest, IL; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews; and close friends: Sue Miller and Jean David. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Edward; parents: Jan and Felicia Lakowski; brothers: John (Victoria) Laskowski and Stanley (Marjorie) Laskowski; brother-in-law, Malcolm Newlin; and sister-in-law, Mary (George) Miterko. Boots was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in East Chicago, Class of 1934. A loving and caring person, she spent many years caring for her parents and in later years her husband. She loved to travel and visited many European countries and much of the United States. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael the Archangel Polish National Catholic Parish, Cedar Lake. She took part in and helped out with many church activities including choir, annual bazaars, and bingo. John P. Kowalczyk, Jr. officiating. Interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Hammond. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday from 3:00-8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME.
