Edward A. Pilipow, age 81, of Hammond, passed away Tuesday April 30, 2013. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judith; children: Edward J. (Debra) Pilipow, Tammy (David) Lozer and Barb Pilipow; grandsons: Edward R., Eric and Ryan Pilipow; great grandson, River Matthew Pilipow; niece, Mary Jane Bartley; nephew, Wally Minchuk. Preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth (April) Pilipow; brothers: Frank, Raymond and Stanley; sisters: Josephine Minchuk and Jane Bartley; parents: Stanley and Antonette. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 3:30 PM with Deacon Raymond Helfen officiating at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory 14 Kennedy Ave (corner of Main and Kennedy). Cremation at Solan Pruzin to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 12:00 - 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Ribbon, two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He retired from Inland Steel with 35 years of service. Edward enjoyed spending time at Scheeringa Farms. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.
