Eleanor Hayduk, age 78 of Michigan City, passed away June 25, 2013 in the Sterling House of Michigan City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 101 N. Church St., Otis, IN with Rev. Gerald Schweitzer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Otis, IN. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, and Friday from 8:30-9:15 a.m. at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City. The VFW Post 2536 Women's Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church will recite the Rosary at 7:00 p.m., both Thursday in the Ott/ Haverstock Funeral Chapel. Eleanor was born October 25, 1934 in Porter County, IN to the late Stanley "Steve" and Sophie (Golembiewski) Firanek. On October 25, 1966 in Otis, IN, she married Joseph Hayduk, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2005. Surviving are six sisters: Josephine Joens, Sylvia Kniola and Evelyn Weiss all of Michigan City, IN, Delores (Robert) Bacon of Pinhook, IN, Frances (Robert "Wayne") Watson of Westville, IN, and Jacinta "Connie" (Richard) Sobieski of LaPorte, IN; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; sister-in-law, Eileen Jankowski of Michigan City, IN. Preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Firanek. Eleanor had formerly worked in Housekeeping at the Lifecare Center, Michigan City and had worked at Eastmoor Factory, Michigan City. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, The Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Coolspring Democratic Club, and the V.F.W. 2536 Ladies Auxiliary.
