Frank A.J. Stodola, age 89, of Highland, formerly of Hammond, passed away Monday January 23, 2012. He is survived by his son, Fr. Francis A.C. Stodola; daughters: Patricia Stodola and Madeline Stodola; grandchildren: Daniel Gutridge, Amanda Bresciani, Constance Payne, Spencer Roche, and Connor Roche; son-in-law, Tim Roche; brothers: Benedict (late Margaret) and Barney (Lillian); numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Roche; sister, Helen (George) O'Donnell; brother, Andrew (Gertrude). A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday January 27, 2012 beginning with 9:30 AM prayers at the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond for a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5310 Hohman Ave with Fr. Frank Stodola officiating. At rest St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Friends may call on the family on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 2:00-8:00 PM at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home. Frank was a lifelong area resident, a US. Army veteran of WWII, lifelong member VFW Post 802 and American Legion Post 369, who will post colors at 7:00 PM on Thursday. He was also a member of the K of C Unity Council 726, Fourth Degree member Abraham Lincoln Assembly, active member of St. Vincent DePaul Society and board member with the Cerebral Palsy of NWI.
