George Edward Brown, Jr., age 68 of Crown Point, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012. He was a Crown Point resident for the past 17 years and was formerly of Griffith. George was born on November 18, 1943 in Brazil, IN. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Merrillville VFW Post 1563 and the Schererville American Legion, Post 485. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Coke Plant in 1999. George is survived by his mother, Helen Brown (nee Tilley) of Greencastle, IN; his loving wife, Imogene Brown of Crown Point; two daughters: Cassandra Brown of Plymouth, IN and Tara Ritter of Logansport, IN; one brother, Raymond (Pat) Brown of DeMotte; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, George E. Brown, Sr.; and his brother, Richard Earl Brown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph Street, Winfield/Crown Point, IN 46307 with Rev. Bob Burton officiating.
