HARVEY J. HELSPER VALPARAISO, IN/GARY, IN Harvey J. Helsper of Valparaiso, IN/Gary, IN passed away at the Horton VNA Hospice Center, on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the age of 89. Born in Bismark, ND January 29, 1919 to the late Bernard and Elizabeth Helsper. He was a resident of Valparaiso for 20 years, formerly of Gary. A retired insurance agent for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and an assistant manager for the Gary office, veteran of the US Army Band, and member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso. Survived by wife, Loretta Helsper (nee Kmetz) of Valparaiso, IN; daughters: Patti (Larry) McAfee of Valparaiso, IN and Janet Helsper of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren: Brooke and Luke McAfee, Bill and Michael Daunora. Preceded in death by brother, Marvin Helsper. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Queen of Apostles Chapel, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, IN, with Rev. Joseph Pawlowski officiating. Interment at St. Paul Cemetery, Valparaiso.
