HELEN B. CHARLET (NEE BUDNYK) "DOLLY" MUNSTER, IN Helen B. Charlet, age 75, of Munster, formerly of East Hammond, passed away Saturday October 27, 2012. She is survived by her son, Daniel Landers; brother, Samuel (Maurita) Budnyk of FL; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Bernie; and parents: Samuel and Frances. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 9:30 AM at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church, 8624 White Oak Ave., Munster with Fr. Yaroslav Mendyuk officiating. Helen will lie in state at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service. At rest St. Nicholas Cemetery Hammond. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday October 31, 2012 from 2:00-5:00 PM and from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory, 14 Kennedy Ave. (corner of Main and Kennedy) Schererville. Panachida 7:00 PM. Helen received her Bachelor Degree from Michigan State, her Master's from Indiana University and a Reading Endorsement from Valparaiso University. She taught at St. John Bosco School before going to the Hammond School System where she was a reading specialist. She later taught first grade and retired in 2005. Helen was past President of Delta Kappa Gamma, Delta Beta Chapter and was a member of: Hammond Reading Council, Lake County Retired Teachers Association, lifetime member of the National Education Association, Retired Chapter of the Hammond Teachers Federation, Munster Garden Club, St. Thomas More and Board member of St. Paul Lutheran Seniors Group. She volunteered at PAWS and at St. Josaphat Church every Friday to make perogies. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's name may be made to Humane Society of the Calumet Area or St. Vincent de Paul.
