Helen Timko, age 91, of Fair Oaks, IN formerly of Highland and Whiting, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013. Born April 16, 1921 in Hollister, OH, Helen lived her early years in Whiting but spent most of her life in Highland and lived her last few years in Fair Oaks. She attended Holy Trinity Hungarian Church in East Chicago, IN. During the war, she worked on the tank parts assembly line of Blaw-Knox then on the bleach line for Purex in East Chicago. She spent the last few years of her working life employed by Sherwood-Lake Apartments. Helen loved to travel; going to many places with the Highland "Swinging Seniors" and was active with the Highland Democratic Committee. Helen is survived by her daughter Maggie (Richard) Reed of Fair Oaks; grandchildren: Christopher (Rachel) Taylor of Gary, IN, Heather Taylor of Jamestown, NY, and Rhonda (Jon) Chapman of Ft Myers, FL. Great grandchildren: Christopher "CJ" Taylor, Jr. of Gary, IN, Billy Daniels, Mathew Daniels, Naomi Chapman, and Elisha Chapman of Ft Myers, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Timko; parents: Michael and Mary Chervenyak; sisters: Mary Chervenyak, Elizabeth Novotny, Julia Pachnik, and Margaret Chervenyak; and brothers John and Michael Chervenyak. Funeral services will be held at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave. in Highland on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. with Father Alphonse Skerl officiating. Private burial. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m until the time of service.
