Henry W. Washington our dear father, grandfather, and husband passed away on December 1, 2012 at St. Margaret Mercy Hospital in Hammond, IN. He was 75 years old. Henry leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 46 years, Alice (Fletcher) Washington; daughter, Kim (Washington) Shells; son, Jeffrey Washington; and brother Earl Washington of Tampa Bay FL. God bless my dad, Henry W. Washington. He was born on July 19, 1937 in Chicago IL. He gave his life to Christ in the Christian Reformed Church at a young age. He belonged to Grace Christian Reformed church in Grand Rapids, MI. Where he was raised, he was devoted to his Christian Reformed Faith, serving as a Deacon and Elder at Lawndale CRC and Pullman CRC. While being raised in Grand Rapids, he attended South High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country and being honorably discharged. He returned to Grand Rapid where he attended Grand Rapids Junior College. He became and alumnus of Calumet College earning a degree in Business Management. He worked for over 30 years for the Federal Government as a business specialist at the Small Business Administration. He was married to the love of his life for 46 years, Alice (Fletcher) Washington. He loved the Lord and his family and friends. Henry was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Louise Washington; and brother Raymond Washington. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: Alice (Fletcher) Washington; children: Kimberly (Ennis) Shells of Alsip, IL, Jeffrey (fiancee Mesha) Washington of Hammond, IN; brother Earl (Diane) Washington of Tampa FL; two grandchildren: Sydney and Connor Shells of Alsip IL; sisters-in-law: Bess (Fletcher) Ferguson of Hammond, IN, Cheri (Fletcher) Legard of Hammond, IN, and Evelyn Washington of Bloomfield, MI; also a beloved host of nephews, nieces, family, and many dear friends. Visitation and funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Pullman Christian Reformed Church, 424 East 103rd Street, Chicago, IL 60628 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will began at 10:00 a.m. www.smith bizzellwarnerfuneralhome.com.
