Jack MB Slatton, age 92 of Merrillville, IN passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Loving father of Cynthia Slatton of Merrillville and Jack (Dana) Slatton of West Lafayette, IN; grandchildren: Andrew (Mague) Slatton of AZ and Jacob (Mikki) Slatton of IA; step grandchildren: Taylor and Chase Koster of West Lafayette; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol (nee Bode); father, Andrew and mother, Theresa Slatton; brothers: Max and Carl Slatton. Jack was a proud graduate of Tolleston High School. He was Secretary/Treasurer of the senior class of 1940. Jack was a Navy veteran of World War II and served two years on USS LST 268. He was employed by U.S. Steel, Gary Works for 43 years as a Boilermaker and retired in 1983. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville on Friday from 4:00-7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM from Pruzin Brothers Chapel with Rev. Tom Shanahan officiating. At rest Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville.
