James "Mickey" Cooper, age 70, of Hammond, IN, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carole (nee Hollis); daughters: Diane Cooper, Michele (Tom) Zerkel, and Julie (George) Decrescenzo; son, James Cooper II; grandchildren: Andrew, Jessica, Amelia, Jared, Jacqueline, Jocelyn, Jennifer, and Nina; great granddaughter, Ariell; sisters: Karen (Gene) Minton and Beverly (Bob) Poynter; brother, Tom (Marcie) Cooper; numerous nieces, nephews, extended Family, and friends; special friends: Dennis, Ed, Lou, Larry, and Charlie; and beloved canine companion, Britney. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jim and Garnet Cooper. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Solan Pruzin Funeral Home and Crematory, 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond, IN 46324. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will end at the funeral home with a private burial at a later date. James was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired truck driver, and mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family would be appreciated.
