JAMES R. ANDERSON BROOKLYN, NY James R. Anderson of Brooklyn, New York passed away May 28, 2014. He was born August 25, 1935 in Gary. He was an artist and a teacher. He is survived by husband Robert G. Betke Jr.; nieces and nephews, Patricia Wisniewski, Nancy Dumay, Edward Yoko, Joanie Johnson and Elizabeth Skelskie; many grand nieces and nephews, grand-grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 9 older brothers and sisters. Jim was loved by many, many friends. He held two Master's Degrees from Indiana University where he also obtained his undergraduate degree in Education. While at Indiana University he rode in the Little 500 on two occasions. He was the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship. He had worked in The Whitney Biennial and has paintings in major museum collections as well as private collections. There will be no service. A celebration of his life will be held at some point in the near future.
