John E. Vert, son of Hazel Blanche Kirkley Vert and the late Charles Melford Vert was born in Poplar Bluff, MO on February 7, 1948. He departed this life at his residence in Lesterville, MO on October 7, 2013, at the age of 65. On March 29, 1971 in Cedar Lake, IN, John was united in marriage to Jane Rokosz and to this loving union five children were born. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army and he was a lifetime member of the Lesterville V.F.W. Post 6660. His hobbies included fishing, playing cards, working outside, and making a garden. John loved his truck (MOBIUS One) and his best friend, Chuck Hawkins. His greatest love was his family especially his grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his father; two brothers: Floyd and Lloyd Vert; and one sister, Anna Belle Dwinell. He is survived by his mother, Hazel Vert of Poplar Bluff; his wife, Jane Vert of Lesterville; one son, John Vert and his wife Sarah of Lesterville; four daughters: Tammy Vert of Lesterville, Robin Gutches and husband John of Lesterville, Rebecca Shy and companion Ruben Williams of Centerville, Jolene Maize and her husband Gary “Goober” of Lesterville; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three brothers: Charles Leroy Vert of Wappapello, James Vert of Poplar Bluff, and Kenneth Vert and wife Linda of Fisk; two sisters: Mary Miller of Poplar Bluff and Dorothy Foster of Gideon. John will be deeply missed by a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn his passing. Visitation Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services Friday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at McSpadden Funeral Home, Lestetrville, Minister, Mark Winn. Burial, Kinsey Cemetery, Poplar Bluff, MO; Pallbearers: Charles Shy, John Vert II, Brett Gutches, Andrew Maize, Mark Maize and John Vert Jr. Arrangements by McSpadden Funeral Home, Lesterville, MO.
