JOHN J. BALCZO HAMMOND, IN
John J. Balczo, age 76 of Hammond, formerly East Chicago, passed away Sunday September 1, 2013 He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janet. He was a loving father to four sons: Kenneth (Pamela), Robert (Cheryl), James (Katherine), and Thomas (Tammy); and a loving grandfather to Amy, Robin, Andrew, Hunter, Kevin; great grandfather of two; one brother, Richard (Rose) Balczo; many sisters and brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; uncle, Andy (Clare) Thomas; and aunt, Margaret Boilek. Preceded in death by his parents: John and Ann Balczo; and two brothers: Robert and Eugene. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Mass DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Ave., Hammond, IN with Fr. Charles A. Mosley officiating. John will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. Burial will be private. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN (Corner Main and Kennedy). 3:00 PM wake service. John was a Lifelong area resident. He was a member OLPH Church and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #1700.
