JOSEPHINE ANNA CZERNY HOBART, IN Josephine Anna Czerny, age 62 of Hobart, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012 with her three loving sons by her side: John Winter of Indianapolis, Joseph (Jennafer) Winter of Chesterton and James Winter of Indianapolis; loving babcia to Juliana Winter; sister to Mary (Tony) Burzynski of Munster; godmother to Dr. Stephanie Dem- kowicz and Edmund (Kimberly) Burzynski; god daughter of Sister Vera Kloeck; brother-in- law, Joseph Demkowicz; two nephews: Thaddius (Marcie) Burzynski and Michael (Kathy) Demkowicz; and good friend to Mary (Dr. Robert) Thornton and son, Patrick. Preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Anna; sister, Christine Dem- kowicz. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM Mass directly at St. Hedwig Church, 1737 Connecticut St., Gary, IN with Father Joseph Zuziak. Burial will be on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Meinrad Cemetery in St. Meinrad, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville, IN (corner of Main and Kennedy). Wake Service at 7:00 PM. Josephine was born in St. Meinrad, IN, grew up in the Harbor area of East Chicago, graduated from Bishop Knoll High School and attained her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education from Indiana University. She spent her early career teaching with the Hopi Indians in Arizona, continued at OLPH in Hammond and finished her career with the East Chicago School Systems, teaching special education. Requested donations may be given to St. Hedwig Church.
