KATHRYN AMBLER BURNSIDE, IL Kathryn Ambler, 78, of Burnside, passed away at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL Wednesday evening, December 11, 2013. Kathryn was born November 21, 1935, the daughter of John and Irene (Price) Emerson in Hammond, IN. She graduated from E. Lansing High School in Michigan in 1954. She went on to graduate from Parkview Methodist School of Nursing in Ft. Wayne, IN in 1957 and later received her BSN in 1975 at the Purdue University Calumet Campus in Hammond, IN. Kathryn was united in marriage to Thomas Ambler in E. Lansing, Michigan on August 24, 1957. He survives. She had served as a school nurse in Highland, IN retiring in 1983. She was formerly a member of the First Christian Church (DOC) in Highland, IN. She was also a member of the Parkview Methodist School of Nursing Alumni Association, the Purdue Alumni Association, the First Christian Church (DOC) in Carthage, and RSVP in Carthage. Kathryn was an active member of both churches serving in the women's circle and the choir. Kathryn is survived by her husband, Thomas, of Burnside; two daughters: Donna (Steve) Kleopfer of Carthage and Nancy (Joe) Klopfenstein of Vergennes, Vermont; a son, Craig Ambler of Raleigh, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Sara (Kory) King, Sandra Kleopfer, and Samantha Whitaker and Andrew and John Klopfenstein; four great grandchildren: Aubrey and Ashton King and Jackson and Gracyn Whitaker; and one sister, Martha Farber. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy; a sister, Alice Doyle; and two brothers-in-law. A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church (DOC) in on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. The family will greet friends from 9:00 A.M. until time of services. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church (DOC) in Carthage, H.U.G.S. or the charity of donor's choice. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
