LAVERNE M. SWANSON (NEE ELLIOTT) LOWELL, IN Laverne M. Swanson (nee Elliott), 88 years old of Lowell, IN, completed her lifes journey and went home on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Stanley; children: Diane (Roger) Ryon, Sandra (Jim) Truitt, Cheryl (John) Rosevear, Wayne (Tracy) Swanson, and Doreen (Ned) Horney; grandchildren: Dan Swanson, Lisa (Matt) Canning, Christopher Rosevear and Abby Swanson; great grandchild, Aidan Canning; and nieces and nephews. Her extended family includes grandsons: Joseph (Nicole) Rosevear and William (Judy) Rosevear; and great grandchildren: Lucas Rosevear and Adriana Rosevear. During her life, Laverne was always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone who needed assistance. She spent many hours volunteering at The World Home Bible League, at church, nursing homes, and schools. To carry her through lifes challenges, Laverne relied on her faith and her wicked and sly sense of humor. Her passions included music and collecting. Her most valued collection consisted of family, friends, neighbors and the hearts of everyone who knew her. A special thank you goes to the team of angels who assisted Laverne on her journey home: Jessica, Mary, and Henry, and the very special team of compassionate people from Hospice of the Calumet Area. Arrangements were made by Geisen Funeral-Cremation & Reception Centre in Crown Point, IN. A private family service will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area in Munster, IN; The Tri-Creek Education Foundation, Inc. in Lowell, IN; New Hope Center, Inc. in Dolton, IL; or a charity of the donors choice.
