LOYD Q. BOYD HIGHLAND, IN Loyd Q. Boyd, age 91, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2010. He was born December 5, 1918 to Marvin and Mary Essie Boyd near Washington, IN. Loyd was a 1942 graduated of Purdue University School of Agriculture and a member of the Wrestling team. He met his wife, Geneva at Purdue. After graduation he worked as a chemist for the Studebaker Corp., Mobile Oil and Amoco Oil. In 1957 He started his own Real Estate and Insurance Agency. During the firms 35 years he brokered the sale/purchase of homes and development of sub divisions. He also represented commercial clients in the acquisition and disposition of properties throughout Lake County, IN and Southern Cook County, IL. Loyd's civic contributions include terms on the Highland Zoning Board of Appeals and the Highland School Board. He was a member of the Ridge United Methodist Church. His main passions in life were his family, Purdue University and motor home trips. Loyd is survived by his wife, Geneva; son, Richard B. Boyd Sr., of Dallas, TX; daughter, Martha (Joseph) Alford of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren: Richard B. Boyd Jr., of South Bend, IN, Michael Alford of Indianapolis, IN, David Alford of Cincinnati, OH and Randy Alford of Los Angeles, CA; four great grandchildren; and one brother, Robert B. Boyd of Washington, IN. Preceded in death by six brothers; two sisters and his parents. Memorial services will be held at a later date, with private burial near Washington, IN.
