Richard A. Schulz, age 68, of Valparaiso died peacefully with all his beloved family by his side on January 19, 2014. Richard was born on September 18, 1945 in Three Rivers, MI to mother, Blanche (White) Schulz and father, Raymond Schulz. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia Schulz; children: Daniel (Susan) Schulz, Paul Schulz, and Mary Kathryn (Michael) Kneifel; as well as stepchildren: Terry Johns, Renee Byrnes, and Tracy (Polly) Johns; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and best friend, his dog, Tiger. Preceded in death by his son, Richard M. Schulz; siblings: Raymond "Bud" Schulz, Ronald Schulz; and sister, Marce Schulz. Surviving siblings: Roy (Barb) Schulz, Margaret Miller, Merry (George) King, and Maureen Rice; and sister-in-law, Eileen Schulz. Richard was an honorably discharged Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army and served for 20 years. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Richard was also a huge fan of the Chicago Bears, loved fishing, playing cards, and having big family cook-outs. He was very actively involved and loved being a part of the "Chicago Street Theatre". In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Chicago Street Theatre, 154 Chicago Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383. Richard's body will be donated for research to the University of Chicago. Private services will be held for the family. Hinton & Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
