RICHARD E. LARSON VALPARAISO, IN Richard Ernest Larson, 69, of Valparaiso passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013. He was born October 2, 1944 in Gary, IN to Arthur and Florence (Dieters) Larson. Richard graduated from Emerson High School and received his B.S. in Pharmacology from Purdue University in 1969. He practiced as a Pharmacist at Porter Memorial Hospital and retired from Broadway Methodist Hospital. Richard was a member of First United Methodist Church of Valparaiso where he had been active in church ministries including a mission trip to Alaska. On December 29, 1966 in Dewitt, NY, Richard married Susan Armacost who survives, along with their children: Mary (Paul) Dambek of Valparaiso and Eric Larson (Amanda Doppler) of Valparaiso; sisters-in-law: Betty Larson, Treva Larson, and Cindy (Bob) Stratton, brothers- in-law: Jamie (Debbie) Strong and Pete (Peggy) Strong; grandchildren: Jenna and Hunter Dambek, and Emily and Zane Larson; their father, Randy (Deborah) Larson; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Charles Foster; father-in-law, Robert Strong; and brothers: Donald and James Larson. Following cremation, a memorial visitation will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with memorial service beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Deeter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church youth programs.
