Robert Hovermale, age 84, of Anderson, IN passed away on December 30, 2012 at Saint John's Health System, Anderson. He was born on November 4, 1928 in Danville, IN. Robert graduated from Danville High School and Indiana State University. He also earned his Master's Degree from Arizona State University. Robert was an educator for 35 years, taught nine years and served as a principal for 26 years. He retired as principal in 1987 from Bibich Elementary in Dyer, IN. Robert was a member of the Anderson Noon Lions Club, a volunteer Red Coat at Community Hospital, and a member of the National Elementary Principal's Association. He served as president of the Indiana Association of Elementary School Principals District 1 in 1982-1983. Robert is survived by his loving spouse whom he married August 26, 1950 in Anderson, Priscilla (Pittenger) Hovermale. He is also survived by his children: Ann E. (Lindon) Craig of Muncie and Dr. Todd R. (Joan) Hovermale of Anderson; grandchildren: Alex Craig, Jincy (Ryan) Moore, and Zachary (Laura) Hovermale; great grandchild, Evan Hovermale; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: Glen and Gladys (Jackson) Hovermale; and a sister, Mary Jane Stall. Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St., Anderson, IN. Services will follow visitation Thursday, January 3, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. Cremation will take place and burial of ashes will take place in the Danville South Cemetery, Danville, IN at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 1615 Meridian Street, Anderson, IN 46016, the House of Hope, Anderson, or Women's Alternative, Anderson.
