Rosemary DeWood Risk, much beloved wife for 61 years of Robert James Risk, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the age of 84. Rosemary cherished being mother and grandmother to her six children and nine grandchildren. She was born on July 30, 1928 in Ft. Wayne, IN. Rosemary graduated from Ball State University with a B.S. degree in Education and then earned an M.S. degree in Education from Indiana University, Bloomington. A longtime resident of Valparaiso, she taught for 22 years as an elementary school teacher, as well as an art and music teacher. For several years, she owned and operated the Pink Awning Boutique, a rental and resale formal dress shop. Rosemary was a member of and volunteered for many organizations, which reflected her passion for children, animals, gardening, music and art. Her warm smile, positive attitude, love of life, and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rosemary is survived by her husband, Robert James Risk; six children, William S. (Rox) Risk, Cynthia A. Risk, Pamela R. (Mark) Kendall, Susan Renee Bottum, Michelle M. Risk, and Robert C. (Melissa) Risk; as well as nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Nimmer and Lilah DeWood; and her sister, June Foland. A memorial service will held Friday, June 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 516 Church Street, Evanston, IL. Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with a graveside service to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
